Lose weight while you sleep…Do you think it’s just a dream? Is there really a connection between sleep and losing weight? Can it really help us loose that much weight?
Studies show that sleep problems such as deprivation certainly affect the hormones in our body that control our appetite, cravings and metabolism. Recently it proved that the production of the hormones, leptin and ghrelin influenced our appetite and how much or how little we sleep. Leptin is the hormone produced in fat cells which sends a signal to the brain when you are full while ghrelin is produced in the gastrointestinal tract which stimulates your appetite.
As explained by a doctor, when a person doesn’t get enough sleep, his leptin levels are down so he doesn’t feel fullness or satisfaction when eating and the ghrelin levels rises stimulating the appetite, making you to want more food. This could stage for overeating which in turn may lead to weight gain. This explained why people who suffer from sleep apnea are more likely to be obese. Once their apnea is treated, leptin level also fall, making them feel full and eat less — thus helping them to control diet and lose weight.
As researchers recommended, have at least eight hours of uninterrupted sleep at night if you really want to lose weight. During sleep, our metabolism is increased because our brain’s metabolic rate is very high even more than while we are awake. Although the body temperature drops, the REM (rapid eye movement) increases which cause increased caloric expenditure. “It’s like a furnace switching on and off across the night”, as commented by the researcher. If you sleep less than the recommended time then you are likely to gain weight.
Consume your last meal three hours before you sleep to allow the body to resume as fat burning machine. Sugar, sweet and highly refine carbohydrates should be avoided because it disrupts the fat-burning process.
For people who have problem how to get sleep or have insomnia, try some tonics or pills like Calogel, Lose and Snooze, Sleep ‘n slim, etc. They help promote deeper and restoring sleep while aiding your body to burn fat even in your sleep. These are taken before bedtime and on empty stomach.
So, lose weight now while you sleep soundly and wake up one day with your dream come true… However, nothing can still beat diet and exercise for a more rapid and effective weight loss.
